Facts in brief: The Macedonian denar (not to be confused in pronunciation with the Yugoslavian dinar), has become one of the most stable currencies of the Balkan region.  It has maintained a stable rate to the USD dollar for over five years, and is even used in Kosovo as an alternative currency.  The Macedonian National Bank advises that counterfeits of their notes are often coming out of Kosovo, due to the geographic proximity.
